And again, a virtuosic grasp of detail. I love the way the delicate, baroque patterning of her clothing contrasts against the simpler lines of the trees in the background, as well as the fact that her hairstyle echoes the patterns in her clothing. And the fact that the feathers in her headdress slant back, echoing the lines of the frame, makes her look somehow more threatening and at the same time, as though the frame can barely contain her. Utterly spectacular.
